Kaitlyn Spangler Photo Story
Kaitlyn Spangler, a junior at Penn State University, is training for her first marathon that will take place on Sunday May 3, 2015. While Spangler has run many half marathons during her time at Penn State, this will be her first time running 26.2 miles.
Soon after coming to Penn State, Spangler realized how much she enjoyed running. She had not run much in high school since her small school did not have a track and field team or a cross country team. After realizing her running talents, Spangler joined the Penn State Club Cross Country team and has continued to excel during their races.
When asked about her progress the week before the race Spangler said, "At this point I just don't want to over train and hurt myself. I know my fitness is not going to change at all before the race, so I'm just taking it easy for now."
After training for months, Spangler hopes to achieve her goal of running the marathon in three hours and 20 minutes or less.
